D'Orio, Pare reassigned; Roster Sits at 25

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have trimmed their roster by two players, General Manager Darrell Young announced today. Forward Cedric Pare and goaltender Alex D'Orio were reassigned to their respective teams.

Both players were selected in the first round of this year's Quebec Major Junior Hockey league draft by Saint John.

"We were extremely pleased with the performances of both Alex and Cedric in our training camp this year," Young said in a press release. "These moves are designed to give them a chance to play a lot, and be ready to become big parts of our future here in Saint John."

D'Orio, a 6-foot-2, 198 pound goaltender will rejoin the Magog Cantonniers after suiting in 23 games with the team last season. In his 2014-15 campaign, the Sherbrooke, Quebec native recorded a 2.30 goals against average with a .916 save percentage. He was the second netminder taken in the 2015 QMJHL Draft.

Pare, a native of Levis, Quebec will join the Commandeurs de Levis for a second season. Last season with the Commandeurs, the 16-year-old registered six goals and seven assists in 41 games. Many were surprised when Saint John used the 10th overall pick on the forward who was ranked in the second round, but Pare proved himself to the Sea Dogs staff and fans at this year's training camp.

Young said many times that these players will be a big part of the organization's future, and they've certainly made there case over the past two weeks.

The training camp roster now sits at 25 players: two goalies, eight defencemen and 15 forwards. Include defenceman Jakub Zboril, who is expected to return the team in September after training camp with the Boston Bruins.

Saint John is on the road in Bathurst tomorrow night, Friday, to battle the Titan in pre-season action. Several returning players are expected to be in the lineup and tickets are free for the game if you're thinking of making the trip up.
